Update coming... after i get some sleep..

Well... all-day track meets suck. no point at all.

i did see my first NATURAL royal flush though.. that was pretty cool. Especially when i knew the card had to be coming up. that and the hand before, i knew a 3 was coming to make my pocket 3's hit their set on the turn.

{deleted because I'm a schizo that can't make up my mind.}

Anyways, i need to recap the week.. (it was a damn good week). I'll do that tomorrow. Maybe.

w00t! Finally, i'm back up!

Well, yesterday was the first real good day in a while! Started down 8 overall, and played at lunch; first hand was very interesting. I had A-J and raised 1x BB (high blinds, so you can't be raising too much) preflop.
Its me and N.K. to a x-K-A flop. I raise another dollar (leaving me and N.K. with 3 dollars left). He can read me when i want him to, so I basically let him know i have the Ace. Turn is rag, so one more dollar goes in.
River comes up another K, for a board of x-K-A-x-K. He comes to life and goes all-in, and i go into the tank. I'm thinking he can't have the King, as he knew that I had the Aces on the flop. He wouldn't have called with second pair and essentially no outs, except for the Miracle King. I know N.K. likes to gamble (lost 200 bucks at the local fair... those are some horrible odds over there.. but thats another story) but I wasn't worried, so I just called. He flips over J-T for the busted Gutshot Straight draw, and i double up on the first hand. I end up knocked out Rob, but lost some of it to the Fish when Rob started helping him (I should have complained, but i didn't care).

Unforuately, I became too attached to the money, and played way too passive, which cost me. Doyle says you shouldn't think of it as money, but ammo. But when you can get that CD you want or something like that.. you think about it a little more.. oh well, i still was up 5 on that game.

Later, as were going up to the Indoor Track Meet that our school sponsors everyyear, i won another 5 dollars from Jason. $5 NLHE .10/.20 -- Key hand:

Down to 3, while Jason has 7 or so. I am holding 9-8 spades, and see the flop. Its T-J-T, and I bet out .30 (building the pot). He raises me another .30, and I call. Turn is a very sexy Queen, to give me the low straight. I know he couldn't have called with an AK, so I essentially have the nuts, as long as he doesn't have T-J. I figured he didn't, as he only made the minimum bet. I know he would have pushed me all-in if he had the full house, so read him for a set of Tens, weak kicker.
I push all-in, he has the 10's and i have the straight, and the board doesn't pair, so i'm back up. From there I eventually knock him out, and me and Demers cash out, allowing Demers to get back his buy-in.

I look at my ledger.. AND I'm up 2 dollars!! w00t! I know its not alot (especially to the older bloggers, or even the kids playing $20 buy-in games (i want to get in on that... most of them are fish with cash), but the fact that I'm up overall is pretty sweet. I've been down for about a month and a half, so I'm feeling pretty good.
----------
The track meet went well. I placed 1st in the mile, with a slow 4:44, but it was good enough for me. The runners there are good, but none of us like the dry air in that place. So it slows you down a bit. I ran it pretty well, staying in second or third most of the time (with 3 leader changes) and then when Bauder started to kick with 400m to go, i waited 200m, then came back and beat him with 50m to go, right on the turn. He didn't see that one coming, one of my guys said "his jaw just dropped, he didn't even know you were there." Got to love the crowd cheering, i don't think he heard me coming because of it!

2 mile wasn't as good, felt like shit around lap 8, dropped off to about 5th, then pushed it all-in about lap 13 to make up the gap and end up in 3rd, 2 seconds behind Jason. He is a little better than me in the 2 mile, especially if i'm tired and he's feeling really good. But considering I was about 10 seconds behind him with 600 meters to go, I felt I did pretty good. I have to have the best kick in SMAC, no one in this conference seems to know how to change pace or kick at the right time. Works for me, i hate just running one pace anyway, its much more fun to beat them at the line!

The runner's high didn't let me sleep on the bus, so when we got home at 1:30 am.. i was really tired. But all-in-all, it was a good day. I wonder if there's a poker game tonight... maybe i can go after i see Oceans 12 with my gf. (Which is why I need those guys to pay me for the poker games... people take an average of 3 days to pay someone.. it sucks. But thats why i keep my log, to make sure everyone pays me :D )

The roller coasters are closed for the season, but i'm still going up and down...

well.. its definately been interesting. Since i posted, i've been up 6 for the week, down 2, and now up 4. I had had some bad sessions in the .25/.50 $5 NLHE, but its all one long session anyway, so i'm not too worried. Some key hands:

Tuesday:

1st hand, held my favorite 9-4. It was suited in spades (helped me start the rush of turning $1 into $13 in 5 minutes one time), and i was the BB. 3 limpers, and i check.

Board is x-9-A. Frank bets .75, and i know he has an ace. Its folded to me, and i call, just knowing that something will come up. The turn brings another 9 (the case 9, i learn later) to give me the 3 of a kind. I know i have him beat, so i call Frank's bet of a dollar. I'm looking pretty good, especially since someone said that they folded an ace (the table talk at this game is definately worth the high blind structure.) So here comes the river...

Ace of clubs.

I just outdrew him.. and now he outdraws me. jeez... i fold, and he has the ace, just like i thought.

I should have gone all-in on the turn and showed him the nine. Then he wouldn't have called (he's not an idiot, like one person I've been playing with.. more later) and i would have a nice stack...

Thursday:

Could have had a nice stack of about 19 dollars to start with, had i been able to see in the future.

Had 5-5, flop was 7-3-2. Was planning to raise when Frank and Rob go all-in right away. It was the first hand, so everyone was at 5 bucks. I didn't call, because i knew that they had to either have overpairs, or a set of 7's. But of course, just guess what the turn was...

5 of clubs.

Oh well, it would have been stupid of me to call, i would have had about a 5% chance of making it. Rob and Frank's hands? Red 9's and Black 9's, respectively. Read that one right...

I'm down to 1.50, allin with A10d, and get a straight, to put me with enough money to take on the resident fish at our table. (I don't want to embrarass him, so i won't put his name here.)

I have about 6 when I have Q10. Its me and Fish to the flop. It comes up A-J-9, giving me the open ended straight draw. I call his 2 dollar raise, thinking he was all-in. (he was hiding the rest of his cheaps so he would be even at the end.) The turn is a 3, and the river a 6, for a board of A-J-9-3-6.

I don't get my straight, but when the cards are flipped, I have the ace high. I thought i would get beat by some random pair (he plays some crazy cards. His hand? Q-4, for the Queen high... Yeah... i didn't mind, i made some money off him.. but everyone was speechless...

Thou shalt look at the board, and raise.

Mother of pearl... The worst part about being beat by a fish, is when you are the bait...

I'm at the regular 4th period game. First hand I get A8 in the BB. Only the SB calls. The flop is a decent 7-A-9. I have top pair, decent kicker. The SB bets .75. Unforunately for me.. i figure him to be on a bluff, or he has no idea what he has. He also plays some crazy hands, and i'm worried if I raise, he'll still call. So I just call. Turn is a blank. I call another .75 bet. River is a Jack. Now, i don't even see the straight possiblity (frankly, we were using the only deck available to us from Hooters... yeah.. it shows various Hooters girls. It can be distracting.. no wonder I didn't see the straight.) He bets 1.50 on the river with the jack, and i figure he only has a pair of jacks.

He flips over 8-10 for the nut straight.

Damn...

Now i'm down to 1.50, with the blinds coming around quick... not cool.
So much for Agression.. i was slapped around like a b****. by a fish no less. If i had raised the flop, i could have either gotten him to fold, or been able to fold my hand when he called. Maybe he's actually turning into a decent player and I need to show him some respect.

I can't believe I made such an amateur mistake. I might have to take a break right now.. i'm down 11 dollars. (Which is big, its hard to make all that back in one session...) I need a big tourney, $10 buy-in might be nice. I seem to play better at someone's house, instead of a cafeteria where we play maybe 15 hands and there are hundreds of people talking too...

At least some of the girls on the cards were pretty.. but I prefer regular NONDISTRACTING cards from now on... though that Queen of Hearts is sexy...
